Description

Monstera Adansonii is a rare indoor house plant that has grown in popularity due to its unique appearance and reputation for being easy to grow. Monsteras are colloquially known as Swiss cheese plants due to their distinctive leaves. Adansoniis are the cheesiest of them all as their leaves are more perforated and delicate than those of the Deliciosa.

The Monstera Adansonii is from a family of plants called Araceae, which can be found in South America, Central America, and the West Indies.

Where Should I Keep my Monstera Adansonii Plant?

Growing a Monstera Adansonii plant is not complex, but this plant will thrive in certain locations better than others.

The Monstera Adansonii requires a good degree of light but will flourish best in medium, indirect sunlight, rather than in extremely bright direct light.

If your home does not receive a great deal of natural light, you can still grow a Monstera Adansonii plant. However, its growth may be slower than expected.

The Monstera Adansonii also likes to climb or trail. Therefore, it is best to provide something supportive, such as a moss pole, or place your plant in a hanging basket.

In What Soil Will My Plant Grow Best?

It’s best to provide well-draining soil for your Monstera Adansonii plant. However, your plant does require some water retention. For this reason, many Monstera Adansonii owners opt for a high-peat potting mix.

High-peat potting mixes absorb the equivalent to their own weight in water and slowly release this to the plant while draining any excess. This way, your Monstera Adansonii will not become over-watered.

How Often Should a Monstera Adansonii Plant Be Watered?

You should wait until you Monstera Adansonii has dried out to around 75%, and the soil is visibly dry before watering.

How quickly this happens and how often you need to water your plant will depend on the inside conditions of your home. Although, on average, Monstera Adansonii plants only need occasional watering every few weeks.
