Propagating Monstera Variegation
Propagating Variegated Monstera Deliciosa Propagating variegated monstera plants isn’t a task for the faint-hearted but it’s not entirely impossible. Stem cutting are the best way to propagate variegated monstera plants.
Here’s how to do it –
Choose a section of your Monstera Deliciosa that you want to propagate. Be sure to pick a section with at least one node
Using a clean knife, or scissors, cut below the node including a section of at least one to three leaves. After cutting the stem, leave it to dry out for up to two days depending on the size of the stem.
Select a medium for growing your plant. You can use soil, water, sphagnum moss or perlite works best.
It’s easiest to propagate Monstera Deliciosa in water or sphagnum moss. For water propagation, you simply place the stem cutting in a transparent jar and fill it with water. Once the stem cutting’s produced abundant spaghetti-like water roots, you can transplant it into a soil medium.
Sphagnum moss often produces the best results when propagating monsteras. Soak the moss thoroughly in water beforehand, and squeeze most of the moisture out before you plant you plant the cutting.
When you’re ready, place the cutting in the moss and keep it moist. After some time, you’ll notice new leaves starting to sprout. This is the best indication that your monstera’s sprouted roots and is growing strongly.
